Incorporating German Loading #1 into BP 3.0 ??

Post by oliverparsons »

So I just wrapped up a BP 3.0 run and really liked the results but was wondering if anyone has incorporated the German Loading Pattern #1 from BP 2.0 into the BP 3.0 workout? I'm starting a new run next week and was thinking about pulling this off. Thanks!

Maybe I'm not understanding this properly, but if you incorporate GLP #1 into 3.0 instead of doing your Static Holds, aren't you actually just going to be doing GLP #1?

I suppose you could do them in addition, which would add to your workload. As long as you can recuperate from it you would be fine, but that depends on age, nutrition, rest, etc.

Yup, I was worried about over-training as well. But I'm up for being creative - not sure if there was a modified loading pattern that could be used alongside static holds and dips. Or maybe I could remove the barbell static holds all together, incorporate a loading pattern and then do weighted dips as my static hold. I might just be getting too adventurous...I just like the fact that a loading pattern has a specific target goal/max that you fight to towards, and during my last BP 3.0 run I feel my bench press didn't benefit as much because the loading pattern was excluded.

I think if you only add in 1 movement, say the bench press, and hit it every 5 days or so, that it shouldn't be a problem. When I ran 3.0 I added in Rack Pulls as an extra Static Hold and is didn't cause any problems whatsoever. In fact, I had a great run, and will probably do it again in a few months.

I'm not sure I understand, but aren't you supposed to use GLP1 after the 5 workout bridge?

Hi Dragon, yes that's correct. In BP 2.0 you do the 5 workout bridge, find a max lift and then build on that max lift with the GLP workouts. I was trying to do a combo of v2 and v3 (i've done both versions individually) so I could focus on GLP from v2 along with the static holds and EDT block protocol laid out in v3. I put together a custom workout myself and sent it to Rob, he said it looks good....still in the feast phase right now and things are going well.
