Bullet Train to Gainsville- Run #1

Post by JML2011 »

Hey fellow BPers!

24 years old, male, military guy here. Played soccer for over 15 years, track for 7+ competitively. Since joining the military I have worked out quite a bit, especially over the last 5 years. Mostly to stay in shape and create a better fitness for myself.

I consider myself a hardgainer... for quite obvious reasons. I am approx 145 pounds ATM and gaining weight no matter what means has always been difficult. Im 5'10, and super athletic. My metabolism loves to eat everything.

I have done tons of different routines from German Volume Training, 10x10s, 5x5s, SEALFIT, CrossFit, you name it I have probably done it.

Used to working out about 4-5 days a week, which I can see will be a challenge for me with BP since its cut down to around 3 a week.

Ok, so to the good stuff. I joined BP a few days ago, and am super excited to get started. I took the entire weekend to read through the book and formulate my layout and questions. Going to take this week off, even though the last 2 weeks have been pretty much off for the holidays when I got to enjoy some time at home.

Going to start Famine on that next monday, run it through the week and hit the 72 hours hard over that weekend.

So far so good!

Look forward to meeting most of you and talking/sharing what we all can for each other!

Looks like we will be starting right around the same time. My log is the razorbacks one. I was a track athlete also for quite some time and continued into college. Well good luck on your bp run!

Doing good so far. Takin this week of is killin me haha. Ready to get famine started next monday. Cant wait! I know my body will not like it, but it will be fun. I know I can handle it..

Here is what I am thinking of taking for my feast:
Intra workout "formula"
Kre-anabolyn
Adaptogen N
Mass Pro Whey
Mass Pro Amino

Then for Cruise:
Burn it Up!
Mass Pro Whey

What am I missing?? I know there is something.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Also, I am considering doing many workouts throughout the week, rather than just 2-3. Any suggestions?

Rob, I know you will probably chime in here with which Patterns will be the best to accomplish my run.

This outlay is perfect and more than enough. I wouldn't add a thing provided you've got the basics covered (quality multi, fish oil etc.)

We'll get to take what, where and when when we get to Feast. For now, focus on your rest week and Famine ONLY. That means a multi, fish oil, perhaps a greens supp and not much else during those 5 days. ONE week at a time.

Trust me on that one.. :)

Great!

Yup. one week at a time. Looking forward to it!

And yes, have a Multi as well as tri-flex. Taking 2 caps in morning and two at night. Get the joints nice and lubed for the pain train.
Forgot to add them on there!

Should I add in Liver tabs for my feast phase as well? I forgot about those when I was making out my list as I read through the BP.

I was thinking if I do, I might get the Beverly. And Take about 6/day?

Feeling great today. Still super excited. Cant wait to go vegetable/fruit shopping this weekend haha...

weight down today because I had some medical screenings this morning and couldnt eat for 12 hours before yesterday. Resting HR is about 60. was between 9 and 10, so going with the higher number.

Hey JML good luck to you! Im a fellow military member myself, Marine, and I too just started my BP run this month. Today was my first workout for FEAST, and it was AWESOME!

I agree with you, the week off the gym was tough, but trust me its worth it! Its a nice little break, lets you refocus and build up the anticipation, so when you finally get back in, oh man you just tear through everything!

Good luck to you, and keep us updated

A. No, stick with what you have. You can play with those later..

A. You'll need FAR more than this. See the nuts, olives and liver tabs trick in The BP :) But yes, Beverly is a GREAT brand. Much like AskMass, family owned and operated. That means Integrety and Quality in EVERYTHING they do...

A. Terrific. If you had blood work done, DEMAND a copy of it. See here for why!!

FAMINE DAY 1:

Didnt get weight this morning because I wasn't at my place. Guessing around the average of the last week of 140.4.

Got a late start to the day, so late breakfast, and lunch slipped away through some meetings and stuff I had. Should be back on normal track tomorrow.

Total cals: 700

Did workout 1:
START
Squats:
155x6, then hammie cramped up.. too much alcohol and not enough water this weekend haha..
135x6x2
1arm db curl:
30x6x3

db row:
40x6
45x6x2
weighted pullups:
15x4x3

stnd bb curl: 60x6
incline db curl: 40x4
preacher: 60x6

Abs: ~15 mins. Did a two min max test to see if I could still hit 100. Hit 100.

Rope climb, no feet.
END

Workout felt good. Weights are low. Didnt want to max myself out the first day haha. Gotta start somewhere!

Looking forward to the rest of the week. May get up and run a few miles in the am if I dont get to bed too late tonight. Although its quite cold out.... and my bed is quite warm.

p.s.- bought the jack lalanne juicer... had an apple and 3 carrots today... juice was amazing!!!!! almost ate the pulp for the fun of it I was so excited... should have.. next time maybe.
