how long does the over compensating effect last for?

Im just wondering how long the overcompensating effects of the body after the famine lasts for, is it a week before the body regulates itself?

This varies for different people but generally speaking... up to 6-8 weeks. 8 weeks on the outside. No coincidence then, Feast last 6 weeks
